What to Expect

Close to the border of Swedish and Finnish Lapland you’ll find the Lappkåtan of Långforsen. With our packages you are able to cross the border and discover the best of both countries. In our 3 nights Kaamos Winter package we include a Reindeer visit, a visit to a the Ice hotel and much more that Lapland has to explore. Beside exploring the beauty of the early winter in Lapland, you will be able to relax in our Kåtan (bar & restaurant). Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included during your stay.

Schedule

Day 1Arrival in Rovaniemi + meet Santa Claus

1. Arriving at Rovaniemi Airport

We will be waiting for you at the airport of Rovaniemi. Once we have made our introduction, we are headed to Santa and his winter village. Here you can walk around and cross the Arctic Circle! But of course, you can also meet the man himself! (Visit to Santa Claus village depends on flight times)

1.1 Arriving at Långforsen

Now it is time to head to our traditional Långforsen Lappkåtan where you will be guided to your room to unpack and come to rest after your flight.

You are always welcome for a drink in the bar or go for a walk. Extra optional activities are also available on site.

In the evening we serve you a local dinner in our Lappkåtan.

Day 2Visit a local Sami and meet their reindeers ( 1,5 Hours )

After breakfast we drive to a local reindeer herder in Tornedalen. You will be given a tour of the reindeer corral where the reindeer herder will tell you about the reindeer and reindeer herding. They give you the chance to spoil the reindeer with their favorite candy from the forest. Test your skills in throwing a lasso before a Swedish-Sámi fika over an open fire.

After saying goodbye to the sweet reindeer, we drive back through the beautiful nature of Swedish Lapland.

The evening ends with dinner in the restaurant.

Day 3Icefishing + snowshoe aurora hunt

3. Ice fishing

Today you get to try a real arctic experience.

Next to the delight fire you can sit back and wait for a catch! We learn you how to drill holes in the frozen river and how to fish for perch with the special fishlines made for icefishing. Enjoy a warm cup of coffee while collecting fish.

3.1 Snowshoeing

In the afternoon we light up our torches and hike to the local hill with snowshoes. On the hill waits a cozy cabin where we learn you how to start a fire ( the scandinavian way). We enjoy a snack made on the fire and with some luck, we can spot the Northern lights.

Day 4Visit to the icehotel | transfer to the airport

Today we leave early to Rovaniemi to visit the Ice hotel which has just openend their new creation made from ice and snow. Explore the beautifull artworks, every room is made special in a theme by a diffrent artist. Get yourself a drink in the icebar served in a glass from ice and smash your empty glass by tradition to the wall.

After this magical icy experience we stop by a Finnish reindeer herder for a traditional soup lunch.

After an unforgettable trip in Swedish Lapland we will drive you back to the airport in Finland. Due to the flight option this tour is based on ( flights Brussels Charleroi to Rovaniemi en back) we provide the last day breakfast and lunch.

What is included

All local transfers:

Airport transfers
We offer airport transfers for flights that align with our standard schedule. If your flight falls outside our recommended schedule, we won’t be able to provide a transfer, and you will be responsible for arranging your own transportation to Långforsen.
Transfer to and from external activities

Meals:

Dinner on Arrival
If you arrive at Långforsen before the kitchen closes at 20:00, dinner will be provided. If you arrive later, please make sure you have eaten beforehand.
Breakfast on Departure
Breakfast is provided on the final morning. For early departures from Långforsen before 08:00, a breakfast bag will be prepared for you to take with you.

Daily Meals:

We provide warm outdoor clothing, including winter overalls (sizes S to XXL), balaclavas, and helmets. If you require a different size, you will need to bring your own.

Optional Insurance:

Just like renting a car, there is always a deductible in case of damage. Upon arrival, you have the option to purchase additional insurance to reduce your liability for any damage to the snowmobile, snowshoes, or other equipment. This insurance costs 350 SEK (approximately 30 EUR) per person.
The standard liability is 12 500 SEK. However, with this insurance, it is reduced to 4 500 SEK.

Travel Insurance:

Cancellation and/or assistance insurance should be arranged by yourself if desired and is recommended by Långforsen

Hotel Deposit:

The hotel reserves the right to use the deposit for any damages or violations of house rules. If no issues arise during your stay, the deposit will be refunded within two weeks after check-out.

Other

Remote Location:

Långforsen is situated in a remote natural area, meaning there are no shops nearby.

Snowmobile Driving Requirements:

A valid category B driver's license is required to operate the snowmobile and must be preset when driving.
The driver must be at least 18 years old.
Snowmobiles are occupied by two people each.
It is mandatory to wear gloves with loose fingers when operating a snowmobile. Mittens are not allowed.
