Magical Christmas 2023 | 7 days

We will be waiting for you at the airport of Rovaniemi. Once we have made our introduction, we are headed to Santa and his winter village. Here you can walk around and cross the Arctic Circle! But of course, you can also meet the man himself! 

Now it is time to head to our traditional Långforsen LappKåtan where you will be guided to your room to unpack and come to rest after your flight.

You are always welcome for a drink in the bar or go for a walk. Extra optional activities are also available on site.

The evening ends with dinner in the restaurant.

We start the day with a delicious breakfast in our Kåtan where you get the opportunity to try on the thermal overalls for the activities. After breakfast you meet the husky’s which will take you on a sleigh ride in the forests of Swedish Lapland followed by an included fika. After the activity you will enjoy a traditional local lunch.
Enjoy a free afternoon where you can take a walk in nature, have a nice warm drink in our Lappkåtan,…

During the free time you can opt for an optional activity or for our free extras such as snowshoeing.

2.1 Movie Night

The evening ends with dinner in the restaurant followed by a Movie Night on a big screen with snacks to choose from and an included drink.

Today it’s Christmas eve!

After breakfast, we can first drop you off on a good place for snowshoeing. You will get the right instructions on how to walk with snowshoes. It is up to you and your own pace, because snowshoeing can be quite intensive.

At 5pm we fire up the campfire and have some glöck (Swedish glühwein). During some appetizers it’s time to exchange the Christmas presents. Around 6pm we start serving a 3 course dinner in the restaurant made with local food. After dinner we go outside with a torch on the lookout for the Northern lights.

Today it’s all about relaxing!
In the morning you can read a book or play board games at the lounge of långforsen Lappkåtan or have a morning walk with the sunrise. At 10:00 we’ll serve you a delicious brunch. After brunch we’ll prepare some holes in the ice and we’ll learn you the basics of ice fishing.

4.1 Wilderness Spa 

Relax during the afternoon in our wood-fired sauna by the river, after which you can take a dip in the snow or icy water. Optionally, you can choose for our Finnish smoke sauna. (This is a unique experience in a black and dark wood fired sauna. This sauna has no chimney and needs more than 5 hours to warm up and get rid of the smoke through the door and windows.) Connected to the Swedish wood fired sauna, there is an extra relax room to change clothes and have some drinks and snacks by the stove.

The 2 saunas are located by the river and the campfire on a quiet spot in nature. We provide some included local tapas at the sauna, as well as bathrobes and sauna towels. You can order some optional drinks in the bar to take with you.

After breakfast we drive to a local reindeer herder in Tornedalen. You will be given a tour of the reindeer corral where the reindeer herder will tell you about the reindeer and reindeer herding. They give you the chance to spoil the reindeer with their favorite candy from the forest. Test your skills in throwing a lasso before a Swedish-Sámi fika over an open fire.

After saying goodbye to the sweet reindeer, we drive back through the beautiful nature of the border of Swedish and Finnish Lapland.

5.1 Mini course “How to make a campfire”

We will teach you how to make a successful fire and how to maintain it.

5.2 The Taste of Lapland ( Food Experience )

Once you are back, we will make some typical dishes from Tornedalen and Swedish Lapland on the open fire. You will discover all the good taste Swedish Lapland has to give. We cook with products from the nature in the nature. We will prepare you a secret menu. During the slow cooking on the open fire, you will be able to catch a fish on the ice.

In the evening we’ll go with the snowmobile and sleigh to a grill hut where we will have dinner on the open fire.

Today we take you on a short snowmobile experience trip (2 hours). We learn you how to drive on the trails and stop for a Swedish fika with a view. (You go with 2 on one snowmobile and have the change to switch place. Kids are only allowed on the back of the snowmobile). Back at Långforsen your can opt for an extra activity as visiting the moose farm or stay at långforsen and try out some of our free activities. Why not try out the Spark? A traditional step sleigh which people up north use to go to the neighbours, school, work,…

After an unforgettable trip in Swedish Lapland we’ll drive you back to the airport of Luleå. We will provide you if needed an early breakfast depending on your flight time. If you’re flight is later in the day we will show you a glimpse of Luleå. The schedule may change according to your flights. Check-out of the rooms is at 11:00 (There is the possibility to store your luggage in our luggage room after check-out.)

When the timing and weather conditions are right, we can go and look at the magical Aurora Borealis. We go out and hunt for the perfect viewing location, this can be by car, snowmobile, walk, … .

Since Långforsen is located near the Arctic Circle, we have a good chance of witnessing strong dancing northern lights!
